An Introduction
This is the first post on Headstorm Studios' first blog! What topics should I focus on? I have so many interests, but I doubt that my parenting stories, although amusing, would be relevant to this blog. I have been thinking about what to write about in general, but more specifically what to write about in this very important blog post, which is only important because of the fact that it is the first. Firsts are always a big deal, but usually I find people set them up too high on a pedestal and make them needlessly stressful, when instead they should just enjoy the experience or event, take others' advice, and go with the flow. Since this is the first blog post I'm not going to focus too much on Headstorm, or the new website design we are working on. Here is a list of some of those infamous 'Firsts' we make too big a deal of:
- Getting married. No, I'm not saying that getting married is not a big deal, it is. It is all the details that we (brides) make a big deal of that make the entire thing way more stressful than it should be, which makes it less enjoyable than it could have been. For example, I made a HUGE deal about the centerpieces. After months of designing, coming up with different ideas, and then finally choosing my centerpieces, the wedding came. Do I remember what the centerpieces looked like? No. Did I even notice them at the reception? No.
- First child's first birthday party. Those are two big firsts! The only part that shouldn't be a big deal is the party part. We custom designed the invitations, 'professionally' decorated the cake, had the house decorated perfectly! Nice for scrapbooks? Sure. Do I now believe I put too much time and energy into the little details that the birthday girl won't even remember? Yes.
